Key takeaways

  • Runna costs $19.99 a month or $119.99 a year in the US (October 2026); annual halves the monthly cost.
  • The Strava + Runna bundle is $149.99 a year: about $50 cheaper than both separately, $30 dearer than Runna alone.
  • Cancel where you paid: Google Play, the App Store, or Paddle for web sign-ups; cancel monthly plans 24 hours before renewal.
  • Garmin Coach gives free adaptive plans up to the half marathon for Garmin owners.

Runna is one of the most searched running apps of the year, and the searches around it are mostly about money: what it costs, whether the Strava bundle is worth it, and how to cancel. Here are the numbers as listed at the time of writing (October 2026), the cancellation steps for each platform, and the alternatives, including the free ones.

How much does Runna cost?

Runna sells monthly and annual plans, and the price depends on your country. These are the list prices as of October 2026; check the figure at checkout, because regional pricing varies.

PlanUSUKEurozone
Monthly$19.99£15.99€19.99
Annual$119.99£99.99€119.99
Annual, per month$9.99£8.33€9.99

Paying annually halves the monthly cost. The monthly plan only makes sense if you need Runna for one race block of two or three months.

What do you get free?

Week one of any plan, run recording, and your completed workouts stay free. Every session after week one needs a subscription. The beginner plans (New to Running, Return to Running and Path to parkrun) were fully free until 5 June 2026; they now follow the same rule.

Trials vary by where you sign up: 7 days through Runna's site or app, two weeks with a referral code, 14 days when bought in the Strava app if you have never trialled either, and 30 days with the Strava + Runna bundle for new Strava users. On iPhone, turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before a trial ends.

Is the Strava + Runna bundle worth it?

Strava announced it was acquiring Runna on 17 April 2025, and the two launched a joint subscription on 2 July 2025. It costs $149.99 or £119.99 a year and is annual only.

OptionUS price a year
Runna alone, annual$119.99
Strava Premium alone, annual$79.99
Both, bought separately$199.98
Strava + Runna bundle$149.99

If you would pay for both anyway, the bundle saves about $50 a year. If you only want Runna's plans, it costs $30 more than Runna alone. One practical catch: bundle subscribers must connect their Strava account inside Runna, or Runna treats them as free users.

How do you cancel Runna?

Cancel where you paid. Runna's help centre gives these steps.

  • Android (Google Play): open the Play Store, go to Subscriptions, select Runna, tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
  • iPhone (App Store): Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Runna, Cancel Subscription.
  • Web: web subscriptions are billed through Paddle. Log in to the Paddle customer portal with your Runna email and cancel there. If you signed up with Apple's Hide My Email, find that relay address in your Apple ID settings first.
  • Strava + Runna bundle: it is bought through Strava, and Runna's help centre has a separate guide for it.

Cancel a monthly plan at least 24 hours before renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for, and your history stays if you resubscribe with the same account. You cannot switch directly between monthly and annual; you cancel and wait for the current plan to expire.

What are the alternatives to Runna?

Garmin Coach plans run from 6 to 20 weeks for the 5K, 10 to 21 for the 10K and 12 to 26 for the half. Runna's own plans also run on any Garmin watch that supports Garmin Coach, so a Garmin owner can try both during a trial and compare. If you prefer a plan you can read in one sitting, the 8-week 10K plan and the 12-week half marathon plan on this site are free and built to bend around a changing week.

How to decide

  1. Own a Garmin and race up to the half? Start with Garmin Coach. It costs nothing.
  2. Want a full marathon plan with paces chosen for you, and you will use it for a year? Runna annual is the efficient way to pay for it.
  3. Already pay for Strava? Then the bundle is cheaper than adding Runna separately.
  4. Train for one race only? One or two monthly payments, cancelled on time, can cost less than the annual plan.

What no plan app does well is account for what happens outside running: the heavy leg day, the bad night, the week of travel. What to look for in an AI coach covers that gap.

How PeakU fits

PeakU is not a running plan store. It is a coaching app in private beta for Android, Wear OS and the desktop browser that reads your runs from Strava or your watch, your lifts and your sleep, and adjusts the day's session to all of it. It is not yet available to buy.
